Explain Your Topic Report

Your topic report passes its tests. Now comes the part no test can grade: showing that you understand what it counts and adapting it when someone asks for something new. That’s the skill this whole course has been building, whether you write the next change yourself or ask an AI assistant for it.

In this guided session, the mentor plays a teammate who reads your report. You’ll walk through a list of messages you haven’t seen yet, explain why one message is in your report and another is out, and then change your code for a new request. It takes about ten to fifteen minutes.

Before you start, open Build the Topic Report and copy your selectApprovedOnTopic() and countApprovedOnTopic() functions, so you can paste them as your first reply. Keep this course’s rule in mind as you go: the report counts messages with an approved label only, and it says so.

By the end of the session, you’ll have explained your report message by message and adapted it to a request it wasn’t built for. If you need a break, ask the mentor for a short progress note. Continue in the same conversation, or paste that note and your code into a new session so you can resume the unfinished part. Next up is the quiz, Reviewing What You’ve Learned, which checks the ideas from the whole course.
